Upgrading Lives

THE GLOBE CINEMA

With 900 million lives now live in slum conditions worldwide, with limited access to basic facilities, Upgrading Lives brings hope to the seemingly hopeless endeavor of global slum redevelopment. It looks at Flamingo Crescent, a settlement of 400 people in Cape Town, South Africa. With the inimitable “Aunty” Marie acting as an instrument of change and transformation to the lives of her community, we see how after years of development, working with Cape Town City and NGOs, Flamingo Crescent gets “upgraded.”
