About the Film
A Leak in Paradise tells the story of Rudolf Elmer, a whistle-blowing Swiss banker who breached bank secrecy. He revealed, via the press and WikiLeaks, the seedy secrets of a Cayman Islands bank. Since, he has been tailed, harassed, exiled and jailed. Bank secrecy is sacrosanct, especially in these shady fiscal paradises. Through documents and his testimony, Rudolf Elmer, the only banker to speak out, plunges us into the secretive world of offshore banking, an industry worth 15.000 billion dollars whose driving role in tax evasion and the surge of deregulated finance weakens our democracies and destroys the social contract.
